January 2025 – Biopsychosocial In Action

In the claim’s world, managing the ‘whole person’ not just a medical diagnosis has long been considered best practice. Whether you are concerned about mental health parity (in the US) or just the rising focus of mental health issues in the workplace, there are great reasons for taking a closer look at the whole individual behind the claim, the full biopsychosocial perspective.
The Claim Lab’s psychosocial questionnaire is being used by many leading disability insurance carriers today and can help measure these non-medical factors to assist in returning disabled claimants to work.
A recent engagement with a Workers Compensation insurer has shed new light on how effective this perspective can be.
This article published by PropertyCasualty360 provides great insights into how psychosocial factors can impact RTW for all claimants.
“Armed with insights from the questionnaire, adjusters and nurse case managers can create personalized recovery plans to address individuals’ unique needs.” We’re pleased to have worked with The Hanover Insurance Group on this project.
